NEW MUSIC: @ZakweSA – #SebentinRemix

Posted By Brasmoove

Zakwe is still not playing na labo Sebentin. This time, he brought along some of the best lyrical urban poets in South Africa for the Sebentin Remix.

The remix beat has some more tribal elements than the original version, cooked up by X-Wise Beats. Although that famous hook by Musiholiq remains. And it is still making people say: Quku quku kiki nqikinqi!

Zakwe starts by blasting all the bombaclots. Then Blaklez creeps up on the beat with a Spitori flow. HHP comes after with that Maftown flavour, Pro is on that Prodigal Son tip, Kwesta knocks on the beat like a Jehovah’s Witness & last but not least, Cassper Nyovest is on lyrical flex mode.…

NEW VIDEO: @ShabZiMadallion – IT’S MY HOUSE

Posted By Brasmoove

As soon as you hear the vocals that say: “It’s my hoooouse!”, you might mistake the latest ShabZi Madallion single to get visuals for a kwaito track. It’s My House is the second single off his For The People EP.

Shout out to Beats x Blass for flipping the kwaito sample into a new spacey trapped out version.

The video, directed by Nicholas Mills, has Shabzi posted up in different locations in his kasi of Soshanguve in the Capital City.

Nigerian afrobeats star, Davido is in a celebratory mood that made him wanna give his baby Assurance.

His newest single comes just after he surprised his longtime girlfriend, Chioma with the keys to a brand new Porsche Cayenne as a birthday gift. I would have given my girlfriend an Uber voucher. Clearly, there are levels to this thing.

Anyway, the music video was shot a few weeks back while the DMW & 30 Billon Gang (and Chioma, of course) were on vacation in Barbados.

You can download Assurance here or you can watch the video below:

Sometimes, it’s good to quit while you are ahead. That was probably going through the mind of Vaal based rapper Cyrez. After having released the Correta EP, he has decided to hang up the mic. Why? Rather let Cyrez explain:

I spoke to my parents about it, they support my decision to quit music for a greater purpose. Life forced me to make a choice between two things and music is my huge sacrifice. The rest is my private life, I can’t share with everyone.

Cyrez will be remembered for his one man show (Colourful World mixtape launch), his singles Get Happy and Thandi 2.0 ft.…

Jay Dee is a 17 year old rapper from Bloemhof in the North West and he is here to represent for the new generation of SA rappers.

My Identity has a nice & bouncy trap background, which was cooked up by Mabopane based youngin Sandy Murks. The beat compliments the flow that has Jay Dee feeling that he’s “shining bright like a diamond, tho.”

This kid might be on to something. We will know what that is when his mixtape TOS (The Other Side) is due for release in the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Happy Freedom Day, South Africa. What better way to start it off with some new music from Reason.

This time around, he got some assistance from Swizz Beatz & Sibongile Khumalo. Reading it looks like an interesting combo: One of the best pound-for-pound rappers down south, an internationally renowned producer and a legendary South African jazz singer.

Reason is speaking for the people while the dark & distorted boom bap soundbed makes you have to nod your head. This sounds like a DMX beat on downers. Swizz creeps in for the bridge and mam’ Sibongile floats on the hook, no zero gravity.…

This past weekend gave rise to an event celebrating a day that is regarded as the stoner’s Christmas: 4/20.

The D Day 420 Party used to take place in downtown Jozi in the alley at the back of Carfax. It was alright but the lack of space that was an issue. The organisers heard the people’s cries & 2018’s party was held at Golden Harvest Park in Northgate.

I could already see the improvements as soon I got tagged in. From the parking to the sitting areas to the different cannamarket stalls to the 3 stages to the huge amount of shade.…

T.U.R.K.: Rap game Sugar Ray Leonard

Posted By Circus Recipe

Alright, first things first. I would like to apologize because this write-up has taken extremely long to materialize. I could wax lyrical about how busy I am and all that but I will spare you. What’s important is that I have finally managed to put the proverbial pen to paper and get on with it so let’s go!

Sugar Ray Leonard is an American former professional boxer. He is arguably one of the greatest boxers of all time and certainly the greatest or at least the most decorated welterweight boxers of all time. Known for his insatiable vigor to learn and perfect the craft of boxing, he started out as a very physical boxer but soon evolved to a more crafty and deft style as he grew in confidence and made a name for himself.…

NEW MUSIC: @Jovislash FEAT. @Julius_S_Malema – SIGNAL (MAMA)

Posted By Brasmoove

Julius Malema’s speech at the funeral of Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela was part of the inspiration for the latest single from Jovislash.

While we spent the past week or so asking for a Signal from Mama, he was trying to find his own signal from his late grandmother. He calls this a tribute to those who survived or lost the battle with cancer. He also speaks for the ones mourning their late mothers and grandmothers.

Jovislash had this to say about Signal (Mama):

I was touched by Julius Malema’s Speech at Mama Winnie Mandela’s funeral. It reminded me of my late grandmother, I also had so many questions I wanted to ask her and I needed a signal.
