AKA must have been beaming after receiving the news that he had another plaque. AKA’s record label, Sony Music Africa presented him with the award for having platinum and diamond certified sales for 4 of his singles, two of them from his 2018 album, Touch My Blood

The World Is Yours was certified 8 times platinum
Caiphus Song was also certified 8 times platinum
One Time was certified diamond
Dreamwork ft. Yanga was certified 5 times diamond
It can be assumed that streaming and (legal) digital downloads had a crucial hand in getting Mega to reach those platinum and diamond numbers.
To understand how the numbers were calculated, we need to use the Recording Industry of South Africa (RISA) certifications. For a single to be deemed platinum, it must have sold 20 000 units. Diamond is assumed to be 10 times platinum (200 000 units) as RISA doesn’t have an official diamond certification.
Assuming all sales come from streaming, 120 streams equal 1 unit. You can do the math to figure how many streams could have led to AKA‘s new plaque.
Congratulations are due to AKA as this shows that he still has selling power in the SA hip hop scene.
