Thinksllow Event EVENT: TRAPPING OUT WITH @untiluntil_za AT #ULTRASA2018

Posted By Brasmoove

The smoke and hangover has finally cleared and it’s time to look back at the hottest event of early 2018: Ultra South Africa. The EDM-Electro House music festival has been in South Africa for the last 5 years & the Johannesburg leg came with a surprising twist.

The good people at Until Until with help from MTV Base got their foot in the door that is known for fast synthy tempos, concrete 4-to-the-floor kick drums & a lot of fist pumping. For those who are not familiar, Until Until is a Joburg based events company that is known for hosting Braam Beach Party, Pyjama Party & Genesis All Black Party. They also shared a stage at Oppikoppi in 2017 with Pretoria based events company, HomeComing Events.

The line up of the Until Until stage – which was one of 4 stages at Ultra – gave an expectation of nothing less than a turn-up. Representing the house & gqom lovers were, among others, DJs DBN Gogo, Da Lootz & Maphorisa. Trapping out Ultra was done by DJs Venom, D Double D (who brought Da L.E.S along), Chuck Tailored & Sho Madjozi, among others.

Furthermore, it was refreshing to see that it was possible to break the ceiling in terms of musical options in a space that is usually all about electro dance music. It was quite revolutionary. I’m sure I can speak on behalf of the Ultra masses that the Until Until stage was a success. Here’s to hoping that it will come back next year.

I also learnt a few things:

  1. There’s no official dress code. But, there was a noticeable number of gents who were topless.
  2. White kids like trap music & they also know the dances too.
  3. Partying in the rain is nice. But you know what’s not nice? The pain in your legs & thighs the morning after due to fire dance moves.
  4. There was a healthy racial mix of attendees. All were united with the mandate to groove. Ultra South Africa is the type of party that Nelson Mandela dreamed of.

Here are some more reactions to the Until Until stage:
