NEW WORK: @iamZIYON – CLEAR SKIES

Posted By Brasmoove

I dunno if we can still refer to bra Ziyon as one half of Liquideep. I guess it would be unfair as he has been on many collabos ever since the group disbanded in 20-something.

This time around, he dropped some new work after taking a 3 year break with Clear Skies.

Expect less R&B vibes and more doof-doof in this 3 track EP where man is musing over self love (or as the cool kids call it, self cav), depression and truimph.

The good people at Mental Wave released the EP on Soundcloud.

Take a listen below one time.…

THE CRITIC | @ChinoElVito Black Crown Album Review

Posted By Circus Recipe

For the past five years or so, a young artist from Lesotho who goes by the name Chino El Vito has steadily been creating considerable buzz for himself in his country. He has done this through various collaborations with a number of MCs, singing and producing for them. Most notably, he sang hooks on OG Skillz’ “Ín Remebrance”, Sadon’s “Fear No Evil”, ISO’s “Heaven” and Bible Verse’s “1 That Got Away” to name a few. He’s also shared the stage with the critically acclaimed songstress Leomile on a number of occasions. What has remained constant throughout these years is the admiration fans and fellow artists alike have shown for his talent and work.…

THE CRITIC: @BigStar_Live FT @KwestaDaKAR – SGUBU VIDEO REVIEW

Posted By Brasmoove

Aaaaand we’re back with The Critic! Now for this time around, we are taking a look at a back to kasi trip courtesy of Big Star Johnson & Kwesta.

Not gonna lie, I was ready to dust off my All Star and bust my best pantsula moves after like 5 seconds. We can definitely call this a kwaito track, in terms of substance and attitude. Man, even Jimmy Wiz can be seen hitting the footwork.

Sgubu as a track is a laid back as a Lazy Boy chair. The urban poets known as Big Star & Kwesta float on the beat like it was made of air; more especially Big Star when he’s got the feeling to open up the vocal pipes.…

NEW MUSIC: @DEEXCLSV – HOTEL ROOM FLOW

Posted By Brasmoove

Last time we heard from DEEXCLSV, had dropped his Two Hours From G Park EP. Well, a lot has been going on for the boy ever since.

For one thing, man signed a major label deal with Universal Music South Africa (Universal). Side note: Is it me of is it like Universal is being like the Paris Saint-Germain of record labels? We might need a new batch of unsigned hype artists by December 🤣🤣🤣

But I digress.

DEEXCLSV decided to cap off this achievement with Hotel Room Flow – a song that sounds like it was made in the back of a jazz cafe.…

EVENT: HEATING IT UP WITH @KalawaJazmeeR AT THE #KALAWAJAZMEESHOWCASE

Posted By Brasmoove

Kalawa Jazmee is a legendary record label that needs no introduction. They have been at it for the past 24 years. That’s right, Kalawa is as old as South Africa. So when we got word that the Kalawa Jazmee Artists Showcase was a real concept, we could not say no.

So, in the interest of the culture (and liking things), we touched down the HQ of Universal Music South Africa in the bougie streets of Rosebank. Not to act like a groupie, but it was quite a trip seeing the people behind some of our favourite hits up-close. Some of them look a lot shorter in real life but that’s not their fault,

I was more surprised that Kalawa has plenty artists on their roster — even after numerous talents have come & gone.…

EVENT: GOING DEEPER AND DEEPER AT THE #TRANCEMICSOULSESSIONS

Posted By Brasmoove

When I got the word that tickets for the 1 year celebration of the Trancemicsoul Sessions were live, I had to break my “no groove” fast. The plan was to be out of the streets until September but then life laughed at my plan.

But a good deep house event hosted at one of my favourite spots in the Capital City – African Beer Emporium (ABE) – is a valid excuse to re-enter the skreets. So re-enter, I did.

The Trancemicsoul Sessions goes down on the 1st Saturday of every month and you can get in for free by registering on the link that Trancemicsoul drops on his socials.…

THE CRITIC | Destroyed And Rebuilt: @TWCTheGOV Re-writing the Game with Long Lost Letters (L3)

Posted By Circus Recipe

Leaving Ambitious Entertainment has been the best decision thus far in A-Reece‘s career. He’s been making some of the best music of his life and “L3 (Long Lost Letters)” is a potent addition to that impressive list. A joint project with two of his (The) Wrecking Crew compatriots, Ecco and Wordz, “L3” has been a delightful, regular listening experience for the past two weeks.

The project boasts 9 tracks produced by the ever so talented MashBeatz, whose production blends seamlessly with Reece, Ecco and Wordz’ flows. The production truly is the highlight because it just sounds so pristine.…

After pushing the independent hustle for more or less 10 years, L-Tido has signed a major label deal with Universal Music Group South Africa (Universal)

The announcement was made earlier this week at Universal‘s HQ in the bougie streets of Rosebank.

This is what L-Tido had to say about the major move:

I’m looking forward to working closely with a strong team on my upcoming releases.

NEW WORK: @Sjava_ATM – #UMPHAKO EP

Posted By Brasmoove

Fresh off his Viewers’ Choice Best International Act win at the recent BET Awards, brother man Sjava decided to bless us with some new work.

As they say in Pidgin: Sjava no dey tire. He probably thought it would be best to not rest on his laurels and keeping on dropping that heat for the masses.

This time around, we have the Umphako EP, 4 new tracks from him. We are already familiar with Abangani with his African Trap Music comrades, Emtee & Saudi.

Umphako is available on any good streaming platforms.…
