THE CRITIC: @ANATII – THIXO ONOFEFE MUSIC VIDEO

Posted By Brasmoove

It does not take long for one to turn up to Thixo Onofefe. As soon as Anatii goes “Hayi hayi hayi hayi!”, it’s game over chief.

The music video for Thixo Onofefe was directed by Anatii himself with Jitten Ramlal handling the picture duties & the art direction is credited to Tamzyn Botha.

If you were not familiar with the concept of Thixo Onofefe (translated to God of Grace in Xhosa) you would think the theme of this video is witchcraft. That would be an unfair judgement to make even though the witchcraft elements do pop up more than once.…

NEW MUSIC: @OfficialNiniola FT @busiswaah – MAGUN REMIX

Posted By Brasmoove

Naija songstress Niniola first dribbled us when she dropped Maradona in 2017. Ever since then, her star power has increased ten-fold, not just in Nigeria & SA, but all over the world.

This time around, Nini tapped the shoulder of the Kalawa Chikita, Busiswa for the Magun Remix.

SARZ, being the dope ass producer that he is, provides a upbeat Afrobeats soundbed.

Nigeria & South African artists have collaborated before, but this is probably the 1st collabo between 2 female artists. Individually, these 2 queens know how to make us move pon the dance floor. Now that they have combined for 1 track…sheeeeet!…

NEW MUSIC: @altaouses917 FT @ShabZiMadallion – HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE (TONIGHT)

Posted By Brasmoove

Alta is an R&B singer straight out of the home town of (in my opinion) the greatest beer in the world: Windhoek, Namibia. She has released a sultry number as a single to her upcoming album.

How Deep Is Your Love has got that bouncy and retro feel to it. Zesh Domingo did the things on the soundbed.

ShabZi Madallion also makes appears in the cut doing his best LL Charmer Boy impression one time.

This is definitely a song for a sexy time; for that 11pm text to “come through & chill”.

NEW MUSIC: @jonny_joburg – CITY OF GOLD FT @Gigi_Lamayne

Posted By Brasmoove

Last time we heard from Jonny Joburg, he was living it up there in the States. It is possible for one to be missing Africa while doing your thing over the Atlantic Ocean. Probably why he named his latest track after his hometown.

This explains the tribal drum elements on his latest single, City of Gold. The 4 on the floor beat has a familiar West African chant of “oshi baba, o-shi ba-ba” floating around the bridge. The light frantic keys are a nice touch to the Rhodes keyboard backed soundbed.

Gigi LaMayne then steps up & chops the beat like a chef in the kitchen as she muses on the trappings of the city with bright lights. …

NEW MUSIC: MTERRY DA RAPPER – LUNCH MONEY FT. BIG TEE & KLYA BLAC

Posted By Brasmoove

Joburg based urban poet, Mterry Da Rapper is on the hunt with Big Tee & Kyla Blac for whoever took his Lunch Money.

The synth-heavy trap soundbed, cooked up by Murphy Cubic, sounds like a typical “get that money” track but the concept behind Lunch Money is deeper than that. Let Mterry explain one time:

The song is about the political injustice currently occurring in South Africa. The lunch money being talked about are the missing billions being stolen from the government & it’s all money that is meant to build the nation & help people from all walks of life in South Africa to live a better life.

NEW PODCAST EPISODE: THE KULCHA – APRIL’S FOOLS

Posted By Brasmoove

April was a very busy month for the culture and there were only so many platforms that captured the madness that went down during the 4th month of 2018. We thought to add our 2 cents on the April Madness through The Kulcha.

The Kulcha is a new and innovative Pretoria-based podcast coming to you from the minds of myself (@BraSmoove) & my homie, Uno (@TheUnoYouKnow).

The concept of The Kulcha is simple: we play some tunes in the background and discuss the hot topics related to music, movies, social media, sports, politics and such in 45 minute sessions.…
